The Adobe Photoshop Photomerge Panoramic Composition File, or PMG file extension, is a proprietary image format developed by Adobe specifically for their digital imaging and editing software, Adobe Photoshop. PMG files facilitate the creation of complex panoramic images through the use of photos taken from multiple angles and locations. These images are then combined into one cohesive image using the Photoshop Photomerge tool.
PMG files are a binary file type written with the PPF extension as an identification used in the Photomerge workspace for writing data related to individual merged files. These files store multiple exposures or source images input by the user, store measured vertical and horizontal details which relate to perspective transforms and control points, as well as other miscellaneous data including camera parameters, interactive transformations and more. High resolution output LAB files can then be generated from a PMG source.
