The CR2 (Canon Raw Image File) is a data file format used by digital cameras manufactured by the Japanese company Canon. These files are used for storing high-resolution raw images that are captured using digital cameras. The CR2 file format supports images with 16-bits per color channel, compared to 8-bits per color channel for JPG files, and stores more image detail which allows for better image quality.
