What is AMR file?
The .AMR file extension is associated with the Adaptive Multi-Rate Codec (or AMR) audio file format. The format was developed by the mobile telecommunications industry and is now widely used in both cellular networks and Voice over IP (VoIP) applications. As its name implies, AMR is a multi-rate codec that utilizes a technique known as channel-dependent algorithmic switching to enable variable bit rates from 4.75 up to 12.2 kbps. What is AAC file?
The .AAC file extension is a versatile audio compression format developed by the Moving Picture Experts Group. It is a part of the MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 standard and is used on Apple iOS devices, Sony PSP gaming consoles, and some multimedia websites. The AAC format is designed to provide significantly better sound quality than MP3 with lower bit-rates. It also offers advanced features such as error correction codes and index tables for faster seeking during playback. [ ⏩ ] AAC file extension

How to convert the file from AMR to AAC?
To successfully convert the AMR file to AAC, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.AMR). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case AAC (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than AAC).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. AMR to AAC. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting AMR files to AAC files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension AAC, while before this step we had the AMR file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new AAC file, or not.
