What is 3GA file?
The 3GA file extension stands for the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Audio files, which are used for audio files that are encoded using the AMR (Adaptive Multi-Rate) format and stored in the 3GPP container. This particular audio file encoding and container combination was developed by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) for streaming sound over 3G mobile networks. What is M4R file?
The M4R file extension is associated with the .M4R file format which is an audio file used for iPhone ringtones. The M4R format is used for encoding audio in iTunes and is basically a renamed AAC (.AAC) file. M4R files are also capable of supporting High-Efficiency Advanced Audio Coding (HE-AAC) which was created as an alternative to the regular Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) encoding used in M4R files. How to convert the file from 3GA to M4R?
To successfully convert the 3GA file to M4R, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.3GA). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case M4R (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than M4R).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. 3GA to M4R. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting 3GA files to M4R files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension M4R, while before this step we had the 3GA file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new M4R file, or not.
