Palm Desktop For Windows Format | Palm | Backup Files |
The DBA ( .DBA) file type is a backup file created by Palm Datebook. The Palm Datebook, developed by Palm Inc., is primarily used on mobile devices running Windows or Palm OS. It is also used by third-party software applications, such as Sync Manager and the popular Palm Desktop, which synchronize data between hand-held devices and desktop computers.
The DBA file stores text-based seedbackup information that includes an exact replica of the user's calendar and palm desktops, such as application data, preferences, alarms, memos, personal information management (PIM) data, and synchronization settings. It also creates a backup script which will be used to restore the backed-up file or files in case of system or data corruption. The DBA file will usually have extsion "DBA" at the end of the name. Other similar file extensions are .PDB, .PC3, .PCF, .PPR, .TBR, and .PRC.
Features of DBA Files
DBA files are often used to manually move calendar data from one device to another or to back up data for access at a later time. This process involves manually dragging and dropping the file into the handheld device directory. The files may also be synchronized through third-party applications such as the Sync Manager or Palm Desktop application for Windows users.
Helping Hand from Software programs
In case users lose their data, they can use built-in tools or third-party programs to help recover their information. For instance, tools like DBMaster from LivePIM Software Inc enable users to recover data from previously created backup files. Such software programs can easily export data from DBA backup files into a new or existing Palm Datebook document for easy reuse.
Programs for WINDOWS system
Programs for MAC system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .DBA) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .DBA extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .DBA file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .DBA extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .DBA extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .DBA file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .DBA file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .DBA file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .DBA file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .DBA file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
