What is EXP file?
The EXP (Symbols Export File) .EXP is a type of plain text file format used for exporting symbols from software programs, usually stored in a library. Most commonly, it is used with AutoCAD, a computer-aided design (CAD) program for 2D and 3D design and drafting. It may also be used with texture mapper programs, such as Autodesk 3ds Max, to store palletized images, called bitmaps. Note that EXP files can be opened and viewed in any common text editors, like Notepad. [ ⏩ ] EXP file extension
What is ART file?
The ART file extension is associated with Bernina Artista, a powerful computer-aided embroidery system from BERNINA Development Corporation. These files contain embroidery designs and related data which can be read by the BERNINA Artista embroidery Design System software. It can also be used to read many other popular embroidery formats including .PES, .JEF, and .HUS. The ART file type includes information such as line and stitch types, thread colors, fabric type and desired stitch density. [ ⏩ ] ART file extension

How to convert the file from EXP to ART?
To successfully convert the EXP file to ART, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.EXP). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case ART (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than ART).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. EXP to ART. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting EXP files to ART files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension ART, while before this step we had the EXP file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new ART file, or not.
