The file extension VFS (short for UFO game archive) is used by the real-time science fiction strategy game UFO: Enemy Unknown. This files are archives containing the binary data of the the game, such as graphics, sound, script files and much more.
The VFS archive is an open format, meaning it can be opened and processed with most archiving programs, such as WinZip, 7-Zip, iZarc, or even with scripting languages like Perl or Python.
