The JED file extension stands for JEDEC Programming File, which is a format used by Xilinx design suites. This file format is used by the integrated circuit development tool, and it contains a list of all logic states that are required to program a programmable logic device, such as a FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array). This file is written in an ASCII text format, which is commonly referred to as the JEDEC Standard. It is also used by the Xilinx design suites in order to create a programming file for the FPGA.
Data Types Supported
The JEDEC Programming File supports several different types of data, including digital type instructions, logic operations, timers and counters. The digital type instructions allow users to control the sequence of operations when programming the FPGA, while the logic operations can be used to determine how two or more states will interact. Timers and counters are useful for creating delays and adding additional functionality to a circuit. Additionally, it also supports multiple types of registers and memory elements which allow designers to integrate multiple data types into one programming file.
Similar File Formats
In addition to the JEDEC Programming File, other programming file formats are available, including BDF, BIT, MCS, MDC, NCF, SVF, and STG. These file formats are also supported by Xilinx design suites and are all based on ASCII text formatting.
Programs for WINDOWS system
Programs for LINUX system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .JED) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .JED extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .JED file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .JED extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .JED extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .JED file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .JED file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .JED file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .JED file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .JED file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
