The STG file is a compressed file extension that is created by ActiveSync. It is used to store exchange data such as assignments, contact lists, and calendars. The data stored in STG files can be opened with ActiveSync Backup Utility, a program designed for backing up and restoring the data saved inside ActiveSync. The ActiveSync Backup Utility creates the STG files when ActiveSync synchronizes Outlook, Exchange, Contacts, Calendar, Mail, Tasks and other data with a remote server.
The STG files contain user profiles, settings, e-mail messages or calendar appointments which are exported from Outlook and backed up by ActiveSync.
