The FH8 (FreeHand 8 Drawing File) is a vector-based, two-dimensional computer graphics format. It is used to create illustrations and technical diagrams and is native to the Macromedia FreeHand vector graphics software. FH8 files are created using FreeHand version 8 software, and can be opened and edited in versions 10, 11, and MX of the software, although no new features – such as text manipulation or transparent fills – will be added to the FH8 document.

FH8 files may include both vector and raster art in the same document, as well as bitmap images saved against placed vector artwork. All elements are organized in layers, enabling users to achieve complex designs. DOCX or RTF formats provide the best level of quality control; however, these do not retain embedded images or artwork.
