The DDD file extension is an output format used by the Adobe Acrobat Distiller. Adobe Acrobat Distiller is a component for Adobe software used to create PDFs and other related files. The DDD format is a PostScript-based compression format, called encapsulated postscript with document structuring conventions. An EPS document is a single page image which is usually restricted to a single-page file, while an EPS file with extended structuring conventions can be of arbitrary length.
Format Description
The compression algorithm of the DDD format is based on the PostScript language. It uses two sets of definitions: page descriptions and document structure. The page description includes images, binary images, text and graphical elements. These can then be manipulated by the Distiller engine in order to change the resolution, colors and other elements of the document. In addition, the Distiller engine also performs compression algorithms to reduce the size of the document.
