The .APX file extension is associated with the Borland C++ AppExpert Database File format. This database file format is used by a number of different Borland C++ programs to store data in a tabular form. These files contain basic database tables and records as well as scripts, forms, and links. It is an older file format that is no longer used widely, but may still be in use on some systems that were built with these Borland C++ programs.
Overview of APX Files
The APX files that are created with the Borland C++programs represent a tabular view of data, where each column has a header and its associated values are stored in the subsequent rows. The information inside the databases can be enhanced with optional features, such as scripts, forms, and links which allow for more complex interactions. This separation of data from features makes it easier to manipulate and maintain the information stored within the database file.
Opening an APX File
Since this is an older file format, there may not be many applications which can open or edit .APX files. While some other programs may recognize the.apx extension and allow you to open the file in its native format, such as Microsoft Access, the likely result will be that only the Tabular view of the database will be readable. In some cases, it may be possible to use a text editor to open the.apx file in order to get some basic information from it. Alternatively, users may need to find an older version of a Borland C++program which can open these files by default. Other similar file extensions include .ADF, .BAF, and .DBF.
Programs for WINDOWS system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .APX) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .APX extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .APX file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .APX extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .APX extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .APX file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .APX file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .APX file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .APX file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .APX file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
