Administrator Policy Template Format | N/A | System Files |
The .ADM file extension is associated with Microsoft Windows Operating System. This type of file is considered an "Administrative Template File (ADM)," and provides settings administrators can use to modify the user interface of certain applications on Microsoft Windows operating systems–including the Windows 95, 98 and 2000 systems. It contains the information admins can edit–such as registry, users preferences and software settings–for a variety of programs in the Windows family, and associated with a range of services.
File Content Configuration
The ADM file type contains text based directives and instructions that allow for the customization of several user interface options when reported by software applications. These instructions dictate how certain system settings are displayed so that administrators can easily customize the settings if needed. Some of the common items set within ADM files include which user interface elements will appear (menu items, dialog boxes, toolbars), what field names labels will appear, and which options are available for selections during installation.
File Interoperability
ADM files are specific to Microsoft Windows systems, but work in some fashion with other compatible operating systems who support them. Ubuntu Linux is one example of an operating system that can interoperate with ADM files, given the correct resources. Additionally, though ADM files are typically plain text documents, many text editors and programs which support them often organize them in different ways for easier readability. Examples of these are INI and INF files; these document types are widely popular for their readability characteristics as compared to other text formats.
Other File Extensions
Other file extensions commonly used with Microsoft Windows include .INI, .AVI, .DLL, .TXT, .LOG, .RTF, .EXE, and many more.
Programs for WINDOWS system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .ADM) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .ADM extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .ADM file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .ADM extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .ADM extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .ADM file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .ADM file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .ADM file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .ADM file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .ADM file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
