What is IV file?
The IV file extension is associated with the open source 3D platform Open Inventor, developed by Silicon Graphics Inc.(SGI). Open Inventor is a toolkit and API for creating 3D graphics applications. The IV file stores a scene graph, which is a data structure describing the 3D objects in an application as well as their transformations. This makes it possible for complex 3D models to be loaded and saved as a single file object. [ ⏩ ] IV file extension
What is ASE file?
The ASE file extension is used to describe Adobe Swatch Exchange File. ASE files are used to store color swatches and can be imported to a wide variety of graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. This allows a user to keep a consistent color palette across multiple projects and Adobe products. [ ⏩ ] ASE file extension
How to convert the file from IV to ASE?
To successfully convert the IV file to ASE, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.IV). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case ASE (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than ASE).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. IV to ASE. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting IV files to ASE files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension ASE, while before this step we had the IV file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new ASE file, or not.
