What is DGN file?
A .DGN file is a MicroStation Design graphic file created with Bentley Systems MicroStation. This vector-based graphics format is used in CAD (Computer Aided Design) to store drawings made in MicroStation. When saved, a .DGN file contains a design's layout, text, hatches, images, objects, cell as well as other elements of the drawing.File Information . [ ⏩ ] DGN file extension
What is CIT file?
The CIT file extension is a raster image format, developed by Intergraph. The CIT format is often used for storing data in medical imaging, such as CT and MRI scans. It is a bitmap image format, optimized for handling grayscale values with precision. The data structure of a CIT file allows it to store 8-bit images of any size or length, making it suitable for high-resolution images. [ ⏩ ] CIT file extension

How to convert the file from DGN to CIT?
To successfully convert the DGN file to CIT, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.DGN). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case CIT (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than CIT).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. DGN to CIT. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting DGN files to CIT files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension CIT, while before this step we had the DGN file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new CIT file, or not.
