The WQ1 file extension is a spreadsheet file that was developed by Borland in the 1980s for early versions of the Quattro Pro software, which is part of Corel's OfficeSuite. Quattro Pro was one of the first successful popular spreadsheet applications on the market and it offered features such as Three-Dimension worksheets and Visual Basic Support. The WQ1 spreadsheets could be viewed on Windows, DOS, and Mac operating systems.
The WQ1 files use tab-delimited text format to store data. The maximum size of the file is 12 megabytes, which can be divided into several spreadsheets within the same file. Each spreadsheet is limited to 32 thousand rows, 255 columns, and support up to 65 thousand cells. The spreadsheet can also handle over 16 million possible values at once. It includes functions such as Arithmetic, Trigonometric, Logical, Financial, Date & Time, and Statistical.

Alternative file extensions include .WB1, .WB2, .WB3, .WK1, and .WK2. However, newer spreadsheets developed in Microsoft Excel are more commonly used today and these files use an .XLSX or .XLS extension.
