SML files are .SML documents, also known as SMIL Slideshow Presentation documents, and are created with smilLite SMIL lite, a presentation program for creating slideshows. They are multimedia files primarily used on the Web and used for text, images, animations, sounds and video. The Slideshows are viewed through many different types of players such as Microsoft's Windows Media Player and QuickTime Player.
SML documents were also designed to be streamed or broadcasted over the Internet through various streaming media server applications such as RealNetworks RealServer. SML files provide an alternative to other presentation formats such as HTML slideshows or Flash animations by providing sound and image synchronization.
