ProWORX Tables Reference Format | Schneider Electric S.A | Data Files |
RUF (ProWORX tables reference file) is a file type specifically used by Schneider Electric's ProWORX suite of software applications, which provides programming capabilities to support Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The RUF extension is most commonly used for project tables in Schneider Electric's ProWORX package. These tables contain information about the different symbols and labels associated with the PLC's programming elements. The RUF file types are also used to store the data associated with the programmable logic controller (PLC) and are the primary storage container for objects edited in ProWORX.
Technical Details
RUF files are compressed to minimize the amount of space occupied on a computer's storage device; however, they can be uncompressed using Schneider Electric's software utilities. RUF files may contain a variety of information related to Schneider Electric's products such as instruction lists, Boolean expressions, memory locations information, and ladder logic statements. Like other programming language files, RUF files observe an "M-N" coupling rule where each operation is associated with a specific memory location. RUF files are usually ASCII-encoded text documents and therefore can be opened using any text editor or viewed via any web browser that supports ASCII encoded text.
Similar File Extensions
Any PLC project created in ProWORX will use the .RUF file extension. Other related file extensions include .PRO, .TPO, .INI, .MDB, and UHQ.
Programs for WINDOWS system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .RUF) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .RUF extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .RUF file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .RUF extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .RUF extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .RUF file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .RUF file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .RUF file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .RUF file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .RUF file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
