The Kodak Photo CD Image File ( .PCD) is a proprietary image-compression format commonly used to store photographs in a digital format. PCDs are primarily used with Pro Photo CD disks supplied by Kodak; these disks can store up to 100 hi-res photographs per disk.
The PCD file format is interoperable with the JPEG and TIFF image formats, and files can easily be converted between the three formats using Adobe Photoshop and other image processing software. This makes transferring and storing digital photos easier since the PCD file format can be quickly converted into smaller JPEG or TIFF files.
