The .OBB file is a type of Android Opaque Binary Blob File developed by Google for the Android platform. It is a container (data) file that stores various assets used by applications such as games. It is essentially an archive of particular types of files and can be accessed by anyone, regardless of its compressed format.
Essentially, the OBB file acts as a large patch file used during (and after) installation. The files consist of an expansion file or multiple expansion files that are specific to an application, packaged as a ZIP file and uploaded as one package to an app’s listing in Google Market.
