Apple ITunes Cover Flow Data Format | Apple | Raster Image Files |
The ITC2 file extension is associated with iTunes and is a Cover Art or Graphic File. When a user adds music, movies or TV show to their library collection in iTunes, it automatically searches for the associated album artwork or graphic, which is then stored in the iTunes library as a ITC2 file. The content of the file includes a copy of the image as well as additional information related to the album.
An ITC2 file contains binary data which is used to store and display album artwork or cover art within iTunes. iTunes uses two formats when creating cover art files; either JPEG or PNG graphics formats. Other formats are also used, but will first be converted into JPEG or PNG before being stored as an ITC2.
Uses
When listening to music in iTunes, users can view the album artwork by enabling the cover art display via the visualization options located in the app's preferences. The cover art is then displayed in a large window in-line with the currently playing song. Depending on what options are enabled, it may also be displayed on AppleTVs, devices connected via AirPlay, or on an Apple device such as an iPhone when shared via Home Sharing. The images within the file can easily be viewed in Windows using popular graphic programs such as Microsoft Paint, Adobe Photoshop, and Corel PhotoPaint.
Similar Extensions
The extension ITC2 is very similar to other iTunes Cover Flow Data Files (.ITCBS and.ITCF). It stores a copy of a graphic/album cover and associated information, acting as a database to catalogue all of the images stored in your iTunes library.
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .ITC2) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .ITC2 extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .ITC2 file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .ITC2 extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .ITC2 extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .ITC2 file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .ITC2 file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .ITC2 file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .ITC2 file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .ITC2 file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
