IPD (or .BBB) is a proprietary file type used for backing up data on BlackBerry mobile devices. It stands for "Intellisync Profile Document" and is usually created automatically when a user begins backing up their device's data to a computer. The IPD file typically contains contacts, messages, calendar items, configuration, application settings and other data pertaining to the device being backed up. The file can be restored to the mobile device at any time in order to recover any of this data from a backup.
What Can Open an IPD File?
The IPD file is created by the BlackBerry Desktop Software, which is a required program for backing up data on BlackBerry devices. Generally speaking, IPD files can also be opened with any 3rd-party programs such as Kernel BlackBerry Backup or SysTools BlackBerry BackUp Extractor.
