MasterCook Ingredients Format | N/A | Misc Files |
The ING file extension is associated with MasterCook, a recipe-and-menu management software created by ValuSoft. This application enables users to generate and organize cookbooks and other recipes. The program is available for Microsoft Windows, iOS, and Mac OS X platforms. An ING file contains ingredients that are used in a cookbook or recipe. It can store a list of all the ingredients and instructions that are used in culinary dishes.
An ING file is typically saved in the same folder as the recipe document. It is recommended to always keep the ingredient file in the same location as the associated recipe to ensure that the ingredient information displays properly when an individual opens it. Similar file extensions are: INX, ITC2, MC2, and MCX.
Technical Details
MasterCook applications use different newer versions of proprietary and binary encoded files like an ING file. The version of MasterCook determines if older files are compatible with newer applications release from ValuSoft. The files are downloaded in either a.Z NO COMPRESSED format or a.zip format, which is Adobe’s own proprietary compressed file archive format. MasterCook uses an internal DBASE III+ database engine and stores data in tables that comprise of memos, field names, field headers, reports, databases and other related fields.
Opening File
MasterCook includes components that allow users to open and view the content of an ING document. Besides MasterCook, there are other file utilities that offer support for ING files such as Structured Query Language (SQL) Server Management Studio Express, Notepad++, Inkscape, MYSQL Workbench SE, WineBottler, Torch Browser Compressed Data Files Utility, Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 Professional, and Oracle VirtualBox. Users can view the content of an ING document with any text editor or Hex editor they choose.
Programs for WINDOWS system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .ING) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .ING extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .ING file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .ING extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .ING extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .ING file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .ING file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .ING file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .ING file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .ING file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
