A .DTP file is a Publish-iT Document. This is an older file format created with Serif publishing software. The Publish-iT Document format was used in early 2000s for creating presentations and newsletters. It contained complete documents including text, images, and layout information in one file. Today, the one-file approach has changed to many files for content, design, and export. The files are now used for archiving purposes as most modern programs such as Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign cannot open the.DTP file format.

The complete content of a Publish-iT project, including text, images, and layout information is stored in this file.
