The BPN file extension is used when referring to an ArchiCAD Project Backup File. It is a compressed data archive, which acts as a backup element created by the Graphisoft ArchiCAD application. The BPN file stores the entire state of the project which includes all of the components like objects and settings, and will contain all information that is needed for restoring the design after a system crash. It is used to ensure project stability and data integrity when a project is being processed by ArchiCAD.
