Adobe Photoshop Halftone Screens Format | Adobe Systems | Settings Files |
The Adobe Halftone Screen File .ahs stores data in the form of a grayscale image. In other words, It contains only monochrome pixels, that can be combined to form an image. This is a proprietary format of Adobe Systems Incorporated, and most closely associated with its graphics application, Adobe Illustrator. It typically works in conjunction with the .PAT and .GIF files.
In detail, The AHS format is a part of the family of graphics applications created by Adobe Systems Incorporated. Its purpose is to enable users to easily adjust the number of dots per inch (dpi) to which an image will be outputted. For instance, a raster image at 300dpi will appear much less grainy when outputted at 800dpi than one outputted at only 100dpi. Therefore, adjusting the settings of the AHS file is critical if users are looking into making prints with HD quality.
AHS File Disambiguity
There might be some confusion between AHS file such as.ahs and other similar file extensions such as.ash,.cts however each of those file types have distinct purposes. The.ash file often comes in the form of an animation whereas the.cts refers to other types of content related videos. On the other hand, AHS file is exclusively used for halftone images and only stores pixels that make up gray scale photos.
AHS Usage
The usage range of the AHS format is occasionally broadened when designers choose to digitize hardcopies prints from mediums such as photographs and magazines. By scanning for an AHS file, designers and illustrators are able to compensate for any flaws that exist in a particular print in order to create new material for their artwork.
Similar Files Extension
Files similar to AHS include .ASH, .CTS, and .PAT, all which are specific applications that use pixel-based grayscale images.

When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.

However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .AHS extension.
