The ACP file extension is associated with the Alfresco Content Package program. An ACP is a type of compressed file created by the Alfresco Content Package platform, used to store and transfer content, such as webpages, documents, libraries, and folders. In general, the file's contents are generated from a system tree, such as a folder structure, that is converted to a standard XML format. This allows the tree to be re-constructed if necessary. The main benefit of using the ACP format is making it easier for Alfresco users to transfer large amounts of content between sites quickly.
The files are commonly used for deployment, migration and other management tasks. Other uses include library imports, web form templates, and general document routing. Advantages of using the Alfresco Content Package system include ease of use, improved performance in archive transfers, cross-environment compatibility and removed support for multiple versions. Like with other similar file extensions ( ZIP, JAR, TAR, etc.), an ACP can be opened manually using an appropriate application or by using the Alfresco web interface.
Technical Specifications
The ACP files retain the original structure and content of the source project data allowing for exact replication across multiple Alfresco installations. It does not require specific installation or setup processes as it is compact enough to transport in its entirety.. The exterior package contains a single ACS file plus any additional files related to it. These additional files can be scripts, images, folders and other web elements – usually a collection of loose XML files with included references. The internal package is always represented by a single ACS file in XML format. It is important to note that this package does not contain actual content but instead contains meanings about how pages should be constructed.

Programs for LINUX system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .ACP) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .ACP extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .ACP file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .ACP extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .ACP extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .ACP file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .ACP file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .ACP file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .ACP file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .ACP file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
