What is VMDK file?

VMDK (.vmdk) is a virtual machine disk file used by VMware virtualization software. It shares the same format as other virtual disk formats such as those used for VirtualBox and Parallels Desktop virtual machines. What is VMC file?

The VMC extension is a Windows Virtual Machine Configuration File that stores a complete description of a virtual machine, including settings, compatibility, and other information. Created by Microsoft Virtual PC, the VMC file is used to launch virtual machines in the native virtual machine environment of Windows and is required to run programs that are not compatible with the current operating system. How to convert the file from VMDK to VMC?

To successfully convert the VMDK file to VMC, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.VMDK). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case VMC (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than VMC).

What is a file conversion?

A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. VMDK to VMC. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
