What is SAT file?
The SAT file extension is associated with a 3-dimensional CAD (Computer Aided Design) model created by Autodesk ACIS SAT software. The purpose of the SAT format was to unify multiple 3-dimensional CAD formats in order to simplify computer aided design workflows. By using this format, CAD models can be saved and transported across different design platforms while retaining precision and detailed surface features. [ ⏩ ] SAT file extension
What is PRT file?
The PRT file extension is a 3D assembly that is used by several engineering CAD programs like Unigraphics NX. It stands for “Part” and can generally be thought of as an assembly of multiple shapes that can be manipulated in order to create a 3D object. PRT files are made up of data about the shapes in the assembly, which can include planes, surfaces, curves, and points. [ ⏩ ] PRT file extension
How to convert the file from SAT to PRT?
To successfully convert the SAT file to PRT, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.SAT). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case PRT (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than PRT).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. SAT to PRT. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting SAT files to PRT files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension PRT, while before this step we had the SAT file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new PRT file, or not.
