What is PLT file?
The .PLT file type is used with AutoCAD, a Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3D modeling program developed by Autodesk. Such files contain print-ready information that can be sent to a plotter device, allowing AutoCAD images to be printed on paper. PLT files are specifically used for plotting two-dimensional vector graphics, while DWF files are used for plotting 3D drawings. A PLT extension can be generated in AutoCAD using the “Plot” feature of the program. [ ⏩ ] PLT file extension
What is CDR file?
The CDR file extension is the native file format of CorelDraw graphic design software. This vector graphic format is used to create and save bitmap and vector images. It is also used by Corel WordPerfect Suite, for vector graphic artwork and template files. It contains vector image data and raster image data combined together in a single layer, which allows users to edit the graphics within the program. [ ⏩ ] CDR file extension
How to convert the file from PLT to CDR?
To successfully convert the PLT file to CDR, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.PLT). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case CDR (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than CDR).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. PLT to CDR. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting PLT files to CDR files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension CDR, while before this step we had the PLT file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new CDR file, or not.
