This file format was developed by the University of California in 2002 as a basic, easy-to-read format for sharing music playlists. The XSPF format was designed to be an open-source XML format for sharing multimedia playlists, and is now supported by leading media players such as VLC, iTunes and Windows Media Player. How to convert the file from PLS to XSPF?
To successfully convert the PLS file to XSPF, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.PLS). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case XSPF (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than XSPF).
