What is IPT file?
The IPT file extension is a 3D part file created by Autodesk Inventor, a 3D mechanical design software used in the CAD industry. The IPT files store the parts of an assembly model, which can include mechanical components such as pipes, tubes, wires, and other forms of parts used for 3D modelling. An IPT file is comprised of a single component, which when included in an assembly will make up a multi-part model. [ ⏩ ] IPT file extension
What is 3DM file?
The 3DM (3DM) file extension is associated with Rhinoceros 3D, a comprehensive software program used for creating 3D models and calculations. It offers users the ability to physically create three-dimensional models in a few different ways, including through surfaces, curves, solids and meshes, as well as by using commands. 3DM files are generated when a user saves their project in Rhinoceros 3D. How to convert the file from IPT to 3DM?
To successfully convert the IPT file to 3DM, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.IPT). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case 3DM (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than 3DM).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. IPT to 3DM. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting IPT files to 3DM files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension 3DM, while before this step we had the IPT file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new 3DM file, or not.
