What is IPJ file?
The IPJ (Inventor Project File) file extension is a binary file used by the Autodesk Inventor software to store 3D projects. Autodesk Inventor is a suite of 3D mechanical engineering and design software solutions used for product simulation, visualization as well as system design validation. The IPJ file type is version-specific and supports data persistence, reuse of existing designs, reuse of engineering materials as well as interoperability between programs. [ ⏩ ] IPJ file extension
What is STP file?
The STP (STEP 3D CAD File) is a file extension typically used in three-dimensional computer aided design (CAD) programs related to 3D. The STP, or Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data, was first introduced by ISO 10303-21 and provides users with the ability to share 3D objects. In addition to the STP (STEP 3D CAD File), the same ISO 10303-21 standard also includes file extensions such as .IGS, .IAM, and .XLTRT. [ ⏩ ] STP file extension
How to convert the file from IPJ to STP?
To successfully convert the IPJ file to STP, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.IPJ). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case STP (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than STP).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. IPJ to STP. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting IPJ files to STP files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension STP, while before this step we had the IPJ file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new STP file, or not.
