What is EDRW file?
The EDRW (.EDRW) file format is a 3D formatted file used by SolidWorks software for creating and editing 3-dimensional objects. EDRW files are particularly useful for sharing 3D designs over the Internet as they contain information about both the model's geometry and its appearance. These files are compressed for smaller size, making them smaller than CAD drawings or design models. [ ⏩ ] EDRW file extension
What is EASM file?
The EASM (eDrawings Assembly File) is a file format that stores 3D CAD files in a compressed binary format. This file type is used to store 3D models created with various SolidWorks products, such as SolidWorks eDrawings Professional and CAMWorks. The EASM format is the most compact way to store SolidWorks assembly models, minimizing the amount of data needed to transmit the files. Typically, an EASM file can be as much as 20 times smaller than an uncompressed assembly model (.asm, . [ ⏩ ] EASM file extension
How to convert the file from EDRW to EASM?
To successfully convert the EDRW file to EASM, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.EDRW). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case EASM (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than EASM).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. EDRW to EASM. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting EDRW files to EASM files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension EASM, while before this step we had the EDRW file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new EASM file, or not.
