What is DCM file?
The .DCM file extension is used for Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) image files. These files are also referred to as 'Digital Imaging Format'; they are typically used for medical applications and contain medical imaging data such as Magnetic Resonance (MR), Ultrasound, or Computed Tomography (CT). A .DCM file can contain various types of information, including high-resolution images, patient data, visual effects, patient wristband information, and other related data. [ ⏩ ] DCM file extension
What is CRW file?
The CRW (CRW) file extension is used to store high-resolution, uncompressed digital images created by Canon EOS-series digital cameras. The data file is based on the Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) specification and contains all the required information for a raw image such as color, exposure, white balance and resolution. CRW files are typically 10 times larger than JPEG files and provide more detail in the image. [ ⏩ ] CRW file extension

How to convert the file from DCM to CRW?
To successfully convert the DCM file to CRW, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.DCM). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case CRW (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than CRW).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. DCM to CRW. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting DCM files to CRW files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension CRW, while before this step we had the DCM file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new CRW file, or not.
