What is DBF file?
The DBF file extension is commonly used for database files, specifically those created with the dBase IV program from dBASE.com. The files are also used by many other relational database programs, like FoxPro, Visual FoxPro, and Clipper. DBF files consist of data stored in a structured form, usually tabular format, and can be opened with both text editors and database programs such as Microsoft Access. Other related extensions include DB, FPT, DBT, and DBX. [ ⏩ ] DBF file extension
What is SQLITE file?
The SQLITE (SQLite Database File) file type is a disk-based database created with the .SQLITE file extension and developed by SQLite. This file type is designed as a compact, self-contained, serverless SQL database that requires no separate configuration and stores records in multiple tables. The SQLITE database is read-only by default although it can be opened and modified in many of the third-party applications designed for this type of data. [ ⏩ ] SQLITE file extension
How to convert the file from DBF to SQLITE?
To successfully convert the DBF file to SQLITE, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.DBF). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case SQLITE (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than SQLITE).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. DBF to SQLITE. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting DBF files to SQLITE files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension SQLITE, while before this step we had the DBF file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new SQLITE file, or not.
