A GSD ( .GSD) file is a General Station Description file that contains detailed information about a certain station in an automation installation. It is a text-based file used by Siemens' Simatic Manager programming software for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). GSD files store I/O configurations, memory modules, and network connections of a certain station, as well as communication details between distributed stations. GSD files are usually named after the device they are used with, such as S7-CPU310.GSD.
