What is DB file?
The DB file extension is typically related to database files created by a database program. Data stored in DB files varies depending on which software is used to make and access DB files. In general, DB files store structured and often large amounts of data and can be processed easily with certain programs. How to Open a DB File Because there are many different programs that can be used to create and access DB files, there is no universal way to open them. [ ⏩ ] DB file extension
What is DB2 file?
The DB2 file extension is used by dBASE II, a database application originally developed by Ashton-Tate and published in 1983. This database software was discontinued in 1989 when dBASE III and dBASE IV began to dominate the database market, but many people still use DB2 since there are data sets still available in this format. How to convert the file from DB to DB2?
To successfully convert the DB file to DB2, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.DB). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case DB2 (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than DB2).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. DB to DB2. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting DB files to DB2 files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension DB2, while before this step we had the DB file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new DB2 file, or not.
