What is CDI file?
The CDI file extension is used in DiscJuggler, a data-burning software used to create images of CD-ROMs. This type of file stores a disc image, which is an exact representation of the contents of the source disc in a single file. CDIs are the same as DCCs and C2D images, though CDI, DCC, and C2D are some of the most universally supported formats. The exact content of each CD image is stored in the CDI file. What is MDF file?
The .MDF file extension is associated with disk images of CDs and DVDs. It is mainly used by Alcohol 120% to store exact copies of optical discs, including video DVDs and game CDs, which generally have multiple files stored in a certain layout. MDF files replicate this layout in their entirety. An MDF file is created by mounting an original disk onto a computer's virtual drive with Alcohol 120%. [ ⏩ ] MDF file extension

How to convert the file from CDI to MDF?
To successfully convert the CDI file to MDF, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.CDI). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case MDF (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than MDF).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. CDI to MDF. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting CDI files to MDF files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension MDF, while before this step we had the CDI file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new MDF file, or not.
