What is AAC file?
The .AAC file extension is a versatile audio compression format developed by the Moving Picture Experts Group. It is a part of the MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 standard and is used on Apple iOS devices, Sony PSP gaming consoles, and some multimedia websites. The AAC format is designed to provide significantly better sound quality than MP3 with lower bit-rates. It also offers advanced features such as error correction codes and index tables for faster seeking during playback. [ ⏩ ] AAC file extension
What is AIF file?
The AIF (Audio Interchange File Format) sound file extension is one of the oldest and still used audio file formats, originating in 1988 with Apple's Mac OS 7. Today, the AIF file format is supported by many programs for both encoding and decoding audio such as Adobe Audition, iTunes, AIMP, Windows Media Player, and QuickTime. AIF files enable the transmission of audio between platforms and may include sample-rate, bit-depth, sound quality information, and certain embedded data chunks. [ ⏩ ] AIF file extension

How to convert the file from AAC to AIF?
To successfully convert the AAC file to AIF, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.AAC). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case AIF (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than AIF).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. AAC to AIF. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting AAC files to AIF files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension AIF, while before this step we had the AAC file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new AIF file, or not.
