The VAULT file extension is a data storage container format designed for use in the Fontcase software. It is known as Fontcase Vault File, and is used mainly for organizing and managing font files. The type of font files that can be stored in VAULT files include OpenType (.OTF), TrueType (.TTF), Web Open Font Format (.WOFF), and PostScript font files. VAULT files cannot be used with any other software, as they are specific to the Fontcase software only.
Roles & Features
The Fontcase software creates and stores VAULT files on the user’s computer or server in order to facilitate the organization and storage of fonts. These files are useful for quickly accessing and categorizing fonts, as they can easily be sorted by type, size, style, date, or other criteria. Additionally, VAULT files store other font-related information that is used by Fontcase, such as the font style (regular, italic, bold, etc.), licensing information, and the number of versions of a particular font family.
VAULT files are also used to backup collections of fonts so that any changes made can be reversed if needed. Although this file extension was primarily designed for use with Fontcase, these files are interchangeable with other similar file extensions such as .OTF, .TTF, .WOFF, and .PSF. Additionally, there are several third-party applications available that are capable of opening and converting VAULT files.
Programs for MAC system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .VAULT) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .VAULT extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .VAULT file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .VAULT extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .VAULT extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .VAULT file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .VAULT file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .VAULT file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .VAULT file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .VAULT file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
