Traktor Pro MIDI Map Format | Native Instruments | Settings Files |
The TSI (Tracktor Settings File) is a file format developed by Native Instruments for its Traktor DJ software. It is used to save configurations of Traktor’s controller mapping, decks and mixers, so that users can store and share complex configurations, or reload custom configurations for later use. The TSI file format is based on the XML structure, and stores data elements such as track decks, cards, mixers, sequencers, timelines and MIDI mappings.
Similar to the TSI format are other DJ software specific formats like TTS, for Serato, or MAP, for VirtualDJ. Generally these files store information about the mapping of each controller to the application and/or audio interface they are associated to. Additionally, some of them include advanced configuration settings like which audio output channel deck A is routed, or equalizer settings on a specific channel. Furthermore, most of them allow users to save their customizations into a single file which can later be shared with others.
Opening TSI Files
The TSI file extension is primarily associated with the Traktor DJ software from Native Instruments. This application must be installed on the system for the user to be able to open and access files that carry the.tsi extension. The application can be purchased online from its developer’s website. Other compatible programs include generic file viewers that have XML support as well as third-party DJ applications that are capable of importing such TSI files.
Additional information
Aside from being shared through supported applications, users may also email this type of file if desired. However, the recipient should have the same version of the software installed on their system in order to be able to access and work with such a file. In case a user wanted to make manual changes to a TSI file, they should note that it can be opened in any text editor as it is stored in an XML format that is human-readable.
Programs for WINDOWS system
Programs for MAC system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .TSI) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .TSI extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .TSI file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .TSI extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .TSI extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .TSI file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .TSI file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .TSI file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .TSI file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .TSI file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
