The RX2, aka REX2, is a widely used audio file format developed by the leading DAW software Propellerhead Reason. This audio format is optimized for loops and samples and is used in many audio applications including Ableton Live, Cubase and Reason. It is ideal for working with beats and creating musical percussion.
The RX2 file extension provides user with uncompressed audio files of non-progressive bitrate encoded in linear PCM format. Each file contains audio sample loop along a timeline that’s structured according to the number of beats it has while maintaining the bit depth and sample rate.
File Construction Detail
The samples can be arranged into four banks, which increases the range of usable sounds, by covering up to 64 individual samples within one REX2 file.
