The NRG file type is used for NRG Raw Wind Data files, which are saved in a special format used for meteorological data. This type of file is mostly associated with WindNinja, an open-source software developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory(NREL). It is used for generating localized winds used by energy professionals. NRG files contain multiple columns of information which represent weather variables such as air temperature, wind direction and pressure.
