Calligra Plan Document | Calligra | Data Files |
The PLAN file extension is used by the Calligra Plan Document program, a cross-platform open-source graphical project management application. It allows users to create, view, and edit project plans in native format, producing documents that can be used in the Calligra project planning system. The native PLAN file format is a binary format that contains the project plan, resources used for the plan, associated resources and tasks related to the project, timelines and dependencies.
Files saved with the PLAN format are fully compatible with both Mac OS and Windows operating systems, with support for the latest versions. Other files associated with the Calligra Plan Documents may include GANTT, .PDF, and .XML. GANTTfiles store graphical representations of the project plan, while .PDF allow for export of projects to Portable Document Format (PDF) and .XMLfiles store metadata related to each project as an XML document.
Projects Storage
All information related to the project is stored in the .PLAN file. This includes the outlines of tasks, their description, scheduling information, and timeline projections. Project resource allocation, milestones and dependencies are also stored within the file. Additionally, information on progress of tasks or comments related to them can be found in this file type.
Compatibility
Projects stored with Calligra Plan’s native file format ( .PLAN) are fully compatible with all modern operating systems running Calligra Plan. It is also supported by other desktop planning programs like Microsoft Project and Wrike. For portability, these files can also exported to PDF or XML formats.
Programs for LINUX system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .PLAN) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .PLAN extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .PLAN file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .PLAN extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .PLAN extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .PLAN file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .PLAN file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .PLAN file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .PLAN file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .PLAN file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
