PHL ( .PHL) is a data format used by Amazon Kindle e-book readers. It allows users to store references to the most popular quotes from a book in an easily accessible manner.
This format stores data in plain text (ASCII/UTF8 character encoding) and it can easily be viewed with any simple text editor. It consists of a series of tagged records, separated by line breaks. Each tag identifies a field within the record, such as the passage reference, the author name, or the date first added.
