The OPML ( .opml) file extension is associated with the popular Outline Processor Markup Language and is afforded the privilege to store documents written with XML-formatted content within an outline format. This method of document storage is largely used by a variety of news reading applications and podcasting programs. Technical Details
The structure of an OPML file consists of a Uniform Resource Identifier element containing a web address linked to the document, then an XML header, which is followed by an outline element. This outline includes elements which contain attributes such as date, types, name, created and description. Furthermore, inside these outline elements reside a 'text' attribute linked directly to the previously mentioned web address. Also included is an 'isComment' element which is set to true or false depending on the content in the outline section.
