Apple MainStage Layout Format | Apple | Settings Files |
The LAYOUT file extension is a data file associated with Apple’s MainStage software application. MainStage is an audio platform designed to create and perform live music and allows users to play software instruments, audio effects and apply MIDI and foot pedals to control various parameters. The LAYOUT file contains audio channel strip settings such as levels, panning, buses and presets. It also includes patch list for layered or split sound sequencing and contains plug-in mapping information for each channel.
The LAYOUT files are not standard audio files but they can be used to recreate an audio set for a performance as well as to share set lists with other MainStage users. These files also contain a concert list with parameters and an archive of related preset files. Additionally, the LAYOUT files can have their own specific graphics which can be used to customize the user interface. Some similar file extensions are MSCORE, MPRESET, MSPACEBARPRESET, and MPATCHCOLLECTION.
Meaning & Functionality
The LAYOUT file is used to store data that controls MainStage's operation. This includes user-defined performances, layer maps, plugin mappings, and any custom graphics associated with each performance. The LAYOUT file is stored in a binary format which makes it easy to transfer between computers running the same version of MainStage. The data within the LAYOUT file is in plain text, allowing users to modify its contents if desired.
Using the .LAYOUT file format, MainStage users can save all their live performance settings in one convenient place. When opened, all of the necessary data for the performance will be automatically restored so that users can quickly get back to where they left off when they last saved the layout.
Similar File Formats
Other file formats that are related to the .LAYOUT format include: MSCORE, MPRESET, MSPACEBARPRESET, and MPATCHCOLLECTION. All these formats are used by MainStage to store data about individual performances and patches.
Programs for MAC system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .LAYOUT) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .LAYOUT extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .LAYOUT file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .LAYOUT extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .LAYOUT extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .LAYOUT file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .LAYOUT file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .LAYOUT file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .LAYOUT file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .LAYOUT file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
