GenePix Results Format | Molecular Devices | Data Files |
The GPR ( GPR) file extension is associated with GenePix, a software made by Molecular Devices. It is an application used to analyze microarray images. The GenePix Results File stores the data generated by GenePix in a hierarchical tree-like format. Each ‘node’ in the tree contains different components, such as header fields, records, images and grid files.
The GenePix Results File is an important part of the processing and analysis stages as it allows all the data obtained from the imaging process to be stored as a single file type. It enables researchers to analyze and visualize this data effectively without losing any of the original information. Other similar file extensions include PDN, GBL, GAL and TXT.
GPR File Structure
The GPR file structure includes multiple parts, each containing data about various aspects of the image. The Header, which holds information about the image itself; Records which house gene feature parameters from spot segmentation; Image which includes background subtraction and smoothing features; and Grid which holds images of overspotted spots.
Using GPR Files
GenePix Results Files can be used in order to gain additional insights into a researched subject. They can be read using GenePix Professional or GeneSpring software, both of which are designed specifically for this purpose. It is important to note that GPR files cannot be opened using regular software packages, such as Microsoft Office.
Programs for WINDOWS system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .GPR) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .GPR extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .GPR file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .GPR extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .GPR extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .GPR file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .GPR file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .GPR file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .GPR file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .GPR file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
