DCT is a .dct file extension used by IBM Dictionary Utility. It is a legacy file format created to store dictionary data, and was a widely used format prior to the development of other, more portable formats. This file extension is no longer used for active development or deployment of file-based dictionaries, however some legacy applications may still use it for its database content. Two common usages for this format were to store an index of information by source and an index of keywords by source.
